CBIZ Advisory Services is seeking a Corporate Controller to facilitate the scalability of the business through financial and operational control. The role involves managing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and leading post-acquisition integration efforts while fostering a high-performance team culture.

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day accounting function, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, etc

Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, consistency, and compliance with GAAP

Implement and administer POC accounting under ASC 606, including WIP management, cost-to-complete analysis, and validate cost-to-actuals

Develop and document streamlined operational policies, procedures, and workflows across all accounting functions, which will be adopted by future acquired businesses

Drive efficiency by implementing and optimizing relevant accounting and finance systems and leveraging AI tools for automated reporting

Support the cash management and forecasting processes

Implement technical accounting pronouncements and interpretations, as required

Design and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk

Partner with the CFO on post-acquisition integration, driving accounting policy and reporting standardization and financial close timeline alignment

Establish benchmarks to ensure best accounting operations practices are in place and maintained throughout the company

Manage the annual audit function, including development of consolidated financial statements and collaboration with external auditors

Lead year-one implementation of single accounting ERP that will serve as the platform to support future acquisition add-ons (leading system candidates are Sage and NetSuite)

Ensure successful conversion of newly acquired entities from cash to accrual-based accounting, as required, to ensure GAAP compliance and company-wide financial consistency

Create consolidated chart of accounts as part of platform ERP implementation

Lead post-acquisition accounting integration efforts, including the migration from legacy financial systems to the company's platform systems

Recruit, train, and mentor an accounting staff, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, integrity, and professional growth

Assimilate accounting teams within newly acquired businesses to ensure alignment with corporate policies, processes, and close timelines

Required

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline

Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Minimum 10 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role, ideally with private equity involvement

Experience in a multi-site, services-oriented and/or project-based business environment preferred

Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems – experience with implementation is a plus

History of driving initiatives of continuous process improvements (close cycle, financial reporting, system-driven automation)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to think analytically and strategically

Detail-oriented, ensuring impeccable quality of work

Ability to work closely with a senior management team and external stakeholders

Self-motivated and self-directed

Unquestioned ethics and integrity

Preferred

Experience in a multi-site, services-oriented and/or project-based business environment preferred

Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems – experience with implementation is a plus
