Embedded Firmware Manager
Survival Systems Staffing is seeking an exceptional technical leader to helm their Embedded Systems Engineering team. The role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise in firmware development for power electronics and proven leadership capabilities, managing a team of 15 engineers while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical technical decisions and architecture.

Responsibilities
Provide technical direction and architectural oversight for all embedded systems development activities across product lines
Lead firmware and software design efforts for sophisticated power conversion systems
Drive continuous research and adoption of emerging technologies in DSPs, MCUs, FPGAs, CPLDs, and SOMs
Own project planning, workload prioritization, and resource allocation for firmware/software development initiatives
Ensure technical documentation standards, including design specifications, manuals, and release documentation
Directly manage a team of 15 embedded systems and digital engineers, providing daily guidance and support
Build and maintain a high-performance engineering culture through leadership by example
Develop team members through targeted coaching, skill development programs, and career path planning
Conduct performance evaluations and establish clear objectives aligned with organizational goals
Partner with global engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and quality teams on strategic initiatives
Translate customer requirements and market needs into actionable engineering specifications
Support pre-sales and post-sales technical teams with expert consultation
Align engineering priorities with manufacturing and quality objectives to drive continuous improvement
Develop and implement embedded systems engineering strategies aligned with company-wide objectives
Lead product design and development using lean principles and risk management methodologies
Manage new product development and existing product enhancement initiatives
Drive product design reviews, approve design changes, and authorize software/firmware releases
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
Participate in strategic planning for product roadmaps, market positioning, and technology evolution
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master's degree strongly preferred)
15+ years of hands-on experience in product and technology development within power conversion and management
7+ years of direct leadership experience managing engineering teams in a complex, global organization
Demonstrated experience in manufacturing environments with exposure to production considerations
Expert-level knowledge of firmware development for power electronics applications
Proven track record implementing DSP-based control algorithms
Substantial experience with FPGA design and implementation for real-time control
Strong understanding of power electronics, analog circuit design, and control theory
Proficiency with modern development tools, version control systems (SVN, Git), and release management processes
Knowledge of industry standards, compliance requirements, and homologation processes
Proven ability to identify, nurture, and maximize individual team member strengths
Track record of building high-performing teams and driving results through people
