Responsibilities

Lead and champion internationally renowned, innovative materials science and engineering research for harsh operating environments
Mentor and guide Group Leaders, encouraging their growth while also fostering an innovative and collaborative work environment
Provide leadership to strategically advance the mission of Division in materials for extreme environments
Provide high-level oversight to the Section’s experimental facilities including the Low Activation Materials Development and Analysis (LAMDA) facility and creep & mechanical test laboratories as well as communicating to Division leadership the resource needs to deliver world-class capabilities

Qualification

Required

A PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field
A minimum of 12 years of professional research experience
Experience leading R&D groups or teams
Letters of Recommendation: Please be prepared to submit three (3) letters of reference when applying to this position
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Export control, no clearance: This position requires access to technology that is subject to export control requirements. Successful candidates must be qualified for such access without an export control license
Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program
