IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION)

USAJOBS is seeking an IT Specialist (Systems Administration) to join the NJ JFHQ G6 of the National Guard. In this role, you will provide system support, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and develop guidelines and standard operating procedures for various computer systems.

Responsibilities

Provide system support on personal computer, mini-computers or main frames
Interact with peers and vendors to resolve hardware and software problems
Troubleshoot problems and implements changes on multiple computer platforms
Provide technical assistance and advice to personnel
Analyze, evaluate, and recommend hardware/software changes to various computer systems
Develop guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), bulletins and flyers

Required

Ph.D. or equivalent
Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enable understanding of stages required to automate a work process
Worked as a computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or positions that require use or adaptation of computer programs and systems
Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in analyzing interrelationship of pertinent components of the system
Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment
Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency
Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training in adapting guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment
Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training in preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion
Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training in approach techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization
Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training in planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls
Must have SECRET Security Clearance prior to start date of appointment
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
