Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) Engineer – AVL EXCITE
Detroit Engineered Products is seeking a skilled Multi-Body Dynamics Engineer with strong experience in AVL EXCITE to support simulation, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems. The role focuses on dynamic behavior, vibration, durability, and performance of powertrain and rotating systems, involving the development and validation of MBD models and collaboration with various teams.

Responsibilities
Develop and validate MBD models using AVL EXCITE (Power Unit, Gearbox, Timing Drive, Shaft Systems, etc.)
Perform dynamic simulations for NVH, durability, torsional vibration, and bearing loads
Correlate simulation results with test and measurement data
Support concept development, design optimization, and issue resolution
Collaborate with design, CAE, NVH, and testing teams
Document simulation methods, assumptions, and results clearly
Support automation of simulation workflows where applicable
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3–8+ years of experience in Multi-Body Dynamics or system simulation
Strong hands-on experience with AVL EXCITE
Solid understanding of rotordynamics, vibration, dynamics, and mechanical systems
Experience with powertrain components (engines, transmissions, shafts, bearings, gears)
Ability to interpret test data and perform correlation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience with MATLAB, Python, or CAE automation
Exposure to other MBD tools (MSC Adams, SIMPACK)
NVH or durability background
Automotive, off-highway, or heavy-duty vehicle experience
