Responsibilities
Provide light copyediting and proofreading of technical documents, focusing on grammar, punctuation, formatting, consistency, abbreviations, citations, and accuracy
Apply style and formatting standards using •The Chicago Manual of Style•
Review and edit documents using tracked changes and comments in Microsoft Word
Incorporate revisions and prepare final PDFs using Adobe Acrobat
Communicate clearly with project managers when clarification or additional information is needed
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
Track document versions and maintain quality control prior to submittal
Assist with preparation of deliverables and agency submittals
Communicate status of deliverables with the project team
Perform other related duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Graduate (HSG) with at least four (4) years of professional copyediting and proofreading experience
Demonstrated experience editing long, complex reports (100+ pages with tables, figures, and appendices)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Preferred
Experience editing environmental or planning documents (e.g., EIRs, biological technical reports, revegetation plans)
Familiarity with planning or environmental sciences terminology
Experience creating or editing Section 508–compliant documents
Copyediting certification
