Engineering Technician
Serco is currently accepting applications for an experienced Engineering Technician to support the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Public Safety Systems Program. The role involves troubleshooting Public Safety Systems equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and collaborating with Navy clients to ensure effective system operations.

Responsibilities
Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various products and equipment, such as alarm systems, naval munitions, public address systems, cameras, intrusion detection systems, emergency operation centers, regional dispatch centers, security gates, wide-area alert systems, indoor voice communication, dispatch operations, and providing support for regional and emergency operation centers as required
Providing training to employees, diagnosing, analyzing, and repairing product failures, and coordinating the ordering and replacement of parts as necessary
Assessing customer needs to recommend appropriate products or services that align with those requirements
Applying limited experience and judgment to plan tasks and achieve objectives
Qualification
Required
A master's degree with a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience
Or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience
Or a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience
Ability to obtain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
A minimum of four years of practical experience in system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs within field operations
At least two years of autonomous work experience, demonstrating the ability to make technical decisions with minimal supervision
Familiarity with industry-standard concepts, practices, and procedures, including: Diagnosing and troubleshooting electronic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems, Reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals, Implementing safety, security, and compliance protocols in commercial, military, or governmental settings, Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues, Accurately documenting maintenance activities, repairs, and corrective measures
Willingness and ability to travel locally and long distance as needed (up to 10%)
Proficiency with one or more of the following systems or technologies: Access controlled gates (vehicle and pedestrian), CCTV and video surveillance systems, Electronic Security Systems (ESS) or access control platforms, Card readers and access control logic, Vehicle barriers and bollards (hydraulic and electromechanical), Mass Notification / Emergency Alert Systems, Alarms, intrusion detection systems, and sensors networks, Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) or Dispatch Centers, General electronics troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, Aircraft maintenance or support systems (highly transferable experience)
