Responsibilities
Establish accounting policies, controls, and procedures for the company
Responsible for overseeing all accounting functions: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Cash Management
Analyze, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports
Prepare monthly financial packages (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and management reports, identifying key variances
Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Assist with tax reporting programs, investor relations’ records, company stock ledger, and 401(k) program
Assist with audits for company's accounts and preparation and review of annual returns
Analyze operational issues impacting individual departments and the company overall and determine their financial impact
Assist with the construction and monitoring of budgets in conjunction with department heads
Assist with compliance with FDA QSR / 21CFR Part 820 as it relates to inventory and documentation
Mentor and develop a small finance/accounting team
Qualification
Required
BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
Current CPA License required
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
Strong understanding of GAAP
Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems and general computer competency (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Data base application, and Internet searching and navigation and accounting software)
Excellent and highly professional written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated excellence in Controller's role in small to mid-size company
Strong skills required in critical thinking and analysis
Excellent interpersonal skills and a hands on approach to financial administration and planning for the company
Preferred
Related experience in medical device, biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industries a plus but not required
