Technical Sales Representative
ESP Spares, Inc. is a well-established precision CNC machine shop specializing in the aerospace and semiconductor industries. They are seeking a Technical Sales Representative to drive growth in their contract manufacturing business by building relationships with customers and securing production work. The role involves managing the sales cycle, understanding customer requirements, and collaborating with the engineering team to provide tailored manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Proactively identify and pursue new contract manufacturing opportunities through energetic networking and outreach, with primary focus on aerospace customers
Develop genuine, trust-based relationships with key decision-makers in procurement, engineering, and supply chain organizations
Build your network through industry events, trade shows, conferences, and professional associations
Engage prospects with enthusiasm and persistence to move them through the sales pipeline
Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through contract negotiation
Connect with customers to understand their technical requirements and translate them into manufacturing solutions
Review customer prints and specifications to determine fit with ESP Spares' capabilities
Collaborate with our engineering team to prepare accurate quotes and proposals
Effectively communicate our precision machining capabilities, quality systems, and AS9100 certification advantages in ways that resonate with different audiences
Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with procurement, engineering, and supply chain contacts through regular engagement
Conduct customer visits and facility tours with professionalism and enthusiasm
Be the face of ESP Spares—representing our values and capabilities with energy and authenticity
Stay proactive in reaching out to existing and prospective customers to maintain top-of-mind awareness
Track all sales activities, quotes, and customer interactions in CRM system
Ensure seamless handoff to operations team for new production projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent technical experience
3+ years of technical sales or business development experience in manufacturing
Understanding of CNC machining processes, blueprint reading, and GD&T
Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP, or similar)
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets through relationship development
Outgoing personality with natural ability to connect with people at all organizational levels
Self-motivated with the energy and drive to pursue new business opportunities daily
Comfortable with prospecting and making cold calls
Resilient and persistent—able to handle rejection and maintain enthusiasm
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt style to different audiences
Strong presentation skills and comfort speaking to groups
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office suite
Willingness to travel (approximately 25-50%)
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred
Direct experience selling contract manufacturing or machining services
Established relationships within aerospace supply chains (OEMs, Tier 1-3 suppliers)
Knowledge of metals and plastics used in precision manufacturing
Mechanical engineering background or technical degree
Proven success building a sales territory from the ground up
