Responsibilities

Develop advanced control strategies and algorithms for BMS (SOC/SOH estimation, thermal management, fast charging), power electronic converters (DC/DC, DC/AC), and motor control (FOC, torque control, speed regulation)
Support the development of a variety of control strategies and methods that ensure optimal and safe battery operation. This includes modeling, state estimation, calibration, and validation at all levels
Design of robust Model-Based Design (MBD) architecture using MATLAB/Simulink that supports the scale-up of software variants
Works and improves electronic controls development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modeling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Application of tools for simulation, calibration, and product life maintenance required
Design and program embedded firmware in C/C++ for development, debugging, testing, and performance analysis
Develop test processes, complete tests, and analyze test results in coordination with other specialists
Verify and validate algorithm software, flagging and reporting anomalous qualification output, and performing failure analysis to identify root causes for deviations

Required

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making

Strong knowledge of classical and modern control theory (PID, state-space, observers, MPC)
Familiarity with power electronics topologies and motor types (PMSM, induction)
Well versed in programming and embedded systems; Highly proficient in model-based design (creating control systems & models with MATLAB/Simulink)
Experience in battery or motor and inverter algorithm development, modeling, and simulation, preferably within the electric vehicle industry
Familiarity with functional safety concepts, ISO 26262 requirements, and their application to electric vehicle systems
External candidate must have completed a degree from an accredited US University within the past 2 years
External candidate must currently reside in the US

Preferred

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles
Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
Experience with real-time embedded systems and hardware implementation
Prefer EE, open to Mechanical Engineer or a related field
