Responsibilities
Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc
Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
Work in outdoor utility construction sites
Qualification
Required
High level of experience with outside plant fiber networks (understanding prints, splicing, troubleshooting etc.)
Familiarization of OTDR/OLTS testing
Experience with prepping OSP cables ranging from 96ct to 1728ct including midspan/ring cuts on active networks
Accurate documentation of work performed for billing purposes and accuracy within 3GIS records
Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
Operate all testing equipment and adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc
Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter

Expert in fiber engineering and knowledge of fiber equipment (i.e. fusion splicer(ribbon and loose tube), test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310nm, 1550nm, 1625nm, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter, traffic identifier)
