Quality Manager
Merit Controls is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Manager to join their team in Bethlehem, PA. This role is responsible for owning and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring that products meet technical, regulatory, and customer requirements throughout various phases of development.
Responsibilities
Own, maintain, and continuously improve the site QMS aligned with ISO 9001
Lead internal and external audits, surveillance activities, and management reviews
Define quality policies, objectives, KPIs, and reporting cadence
Maintain QMS documentation, training matrices, revision control, and audit readiness
Ensure requirements are captured, testable, and traceable across ISO, utility, EPC, and customer specifications
Define quality gates and pass criteria across design, configuration, assembly, FAT, SAT, and closeout
Ensure robust hardware and software build, configuration, and testing standards
Define and control incoming inspection and vendor quality for components and assemblies
Drive standardized work instructions, in-process checks, and final inspection gates
Ensure calibration and verification of relevant facility and product equipment
Support continuous improvement initiatives based on quality data and metrics
Develop and maintain new product deployment processes across all project phases
Coordinate product releases with Product, Engineering, Project Management, and Service teams
Ensure clear ownership and accountability for each phase of deployment
Develop and maintain engineering and configuration change-control processes
Lead regular Quality Council meetings to review RCCAs, metrics, and lessons learned
Drive a closed-loop RCCA process from issue capture through verification of effectiveness
Track cost of poor quality, rework, and unplanned work using Jira and related tools
Reduce recurring defects, field issues, and rework through structured root cause analysis
Maintain supplier qualification processes and supplier scorecards
Qualify and assess suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers
Implement risk-based incoming inspection and acceptance criteria
Establish, track, and report quality KPIs and dashboards
Drive Pareto-based improvement initiatives
Lead post-FAT reviews and support improvements to testing, commissioning, and design templates
Collaborate cross-functionally to improve product quality, system performance, and customer outcomes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in Quality Management, Quality Assurance, or Test Engineering
Experience within industrial controls, automation, or renewable energy environments
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, audits, RCCAs, supplier quality, and assembly operations
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Proficiency with tools such as NetSuite, Jira, Confluence, and reporting platforms (Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
Preferred
Quality certifications (Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer)
Knowledge of SCADA systems, RTAC-based controls, and network engineering
PMP certification
Experience in utility-scale solar, energy storage, or renewable energy systems
Familiarity with UL 508A, IEEE, and related industry standards
