Responsibilities

Ensures that the production equipment mechanical systems are maintained to the standards set by management in order to meet production, quality, safety and environmental standards and to meet sales and shipping commitments
Supervise hourly employees, and plan maintenance work around production schedules
Identifying, requesting and locating critical spare parts, coordinating repairs with contractors
Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment and accessing required work to assure accuracy in scope to facilitate efficient work planning in a world class maintenance organization
Proactive with company safety initiatives
Works closely with the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to assure complete coverage of all equipment issues
Establishes maintenance standards and an effective Preventive Maintenance Program, and plans and schedules all preventive maintenance work to coordinate with production schedules
Maintains and adequate inventory of replacement parts, materials and other needed items and purchases parts and materials as required
On an on-going basis, determines and recommends improvements to the Preventive Maintenance Program to achieve minimum machine downtime and to enhance operator safety and efficiency
Maintains accurate records with regard to Preventive Maintenance, safety and regulatory requirements as required
Manages a staff of hourly Maintenance Mechanics who are responsible for equipment and building maintenance and repairs as well as in-house fabrication services
Investigates and solves mechanical maintenance problems
Coordinates and oversees contracted services brought in to perform specific maintenance work such as building maintenance, HVAC, etc. consistent with Company policy and assists in soliciting and analyzing bids and interviewing prospective contractors
Effectively interfaces with other managers/departments with regard to equipment needs and maintenance requirements
This position may require the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
Coordinates regulated waste shipments, manages waste handlers, and signs hazardous waste manifests
Participates as a member of the Safety Committee and is trained as an in-house First Aid provider
Participates in annual budgeting process with regard to building/equipment maintenance expenditures

Required

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience supervising maintenance staff and contracted services in a comparably sized manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience with the development and management of a preventive maintenance program
Strong functional knowledge of production operations, mechanical troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, general mechanical equipment/building repairs and maintenance practices; proven supervisory skills
Experience with parts inventory and computerized maintenance management systems; extensive knowledge of repair procedures and preventive maintenance
Able to effectively communicate and interact with managers and other plant personnel as well as outside officials and vendors
Good project management and communication skills including the ability to prepare accurate and appropriate documentation
Familiar with company safety standards and requirements
Experience working with annealing equipment desirable
Candidates should conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner at all times and have a strong work ethic, the ability to work as part of a team, good communication and organizational skills
Solid foundation in reliability centered maintenance practices
This position requires the willingness to respond to calls 24 hours a day, when required

Preferred

Degree in Engineering or Technical Trade preferred
Supervisory experience in a technical or manufacturing environment is a plus
Experience with metals processing is desired as is a strong technical and mechanical or electrical background
Proficiency in Microsoft software packages preferred
The ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints is a plus
