Hazardous Waste Process Planner Chemist

Responsibilities

Evaluate waste receipts for processing. Assign processing codes used to direct waste to specific plant processes
Uses knowledge of chemistry to direct waste to process that ensure safe handling of the waste and protection of plant employees
Evaluate chemical reactivity and chemical compatibility of waste based on descriptions and/or lab results to determine plant processing including chemical batching of liquids or solids, processing under inert or ambient atmospheres, repackaging, or direct feed of waste
Maintain and update reactive database and all profiles to composition, handling, incineration, etc. to insure and expedite appropriate burn requirements
Insure and monitor that all hazardous waste inventory is processed in accordance within designated time parameters
Work with appropriate operational personnel to determine the most preferred method of handling various waste streams
Prepare a variety of weekly and monthly reports to determine and insure that existing process burn plans are effective and efficient

Required

BS in Chemistry or related discipline required
Prior work experience of 2-4 years in the hazardous waste industry preferred
Familiarity with EPA regulations regarding RCRA, TSCA, PFOS & HFC chemicals a plus
Extensive knowledge in processing methodologies
Strong team player
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
Strong customer orientation
Ability to effectively present information
Strong computer skills
Strong chemical background
