Coordinator of Student Internships and Community Partnerships
The University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking a Coordinator of Student Internships and Community Partnerships to support their strategic initiative Humanities in Action. This role involves building partnerships with non-profit organizations, providing paid internships for students, and enhancing inclusivity and equity in the community.

Responsibilities
Community outreach and relationship building with select non-profit organizations (25%)
Work collaboratively with CAHSS faculty and staff to deepen mutually beneficial relationships between UMD and select non-profit organizations in Northeast Minnesota with the intent to join them in partnership to achieve their goals and to create internship opportunities for CAHSS students
Plan and coordinate charrettes and other sessions with non-profit partners at UMD and in the community
Training for CAHSS faculty and students (25%)
Co-plan and co-deliver training for UMD faculty at HIA Summer Institutes where they will learn best practices for successful, sustained partnerships with non-profit organizations
Co-plan and co-deliver continued professional development opportunities for UMD faculty who participate in HIA throughout the academic year
Co-create with CAHSS faculty and staff modules and lesson plans for HIA students during pre-internship, internship, and post-internship experiences
Shared oversight of student internships (20%)
Meet with students (individually and in groups) to assist them in preparing for their internship search
Collaborate with HIA faculty and non-profit partners, who also share in internship oversight
Review and approve eligibility to enroll in an internship course
Advise students on internship placement
Problem-solve alongside non-profit and UMD partners when difficult situations/conflicts arise
Promote the value of internships to students and help them understand how such experiences fit into their experience at UMD and beyond
Publicize internship opportunities to students through presentations and outreach to student clubs/organizations (and in classes and other avenues as appropriate)
Supervise student employees, as appropriate
Collaboration with partners at UMD (10%)
Work with UMD Career Center and the UMD Public Engagement Office to continue to improve the internship experience for students and non-profit partners
Collaborate with the CAHSS Deans and UMD Career Center to help students articulate the skills developed in the internship experience for a variety of purposes and audiences
Partner with others at UMD as needed
Administrative work (10%)
Work with faculty and staff to develop standard learning outcomes and expectations for students interns
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of evaluation and assessment practices, guiding data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform strategic planning for internal (UMD) and external (regional non-profit) partners
Maintain and organize records
Co-develop communication and marketing strategies for HIA
Assist with financial tasks, as needed
Service to the college &/or the campus (10%)
Serve on college and/or campus committees as assigned. Use expertise and knowledge in providing thoughtful and helpful comments during discussions that lead to the creation and modification of policies, procedures, and action plans to improve the UMD experience for our students, staff, and faculty
Provide bi-annual updates to the CAHSS External Advisory Board and UMD Alumni relations
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
BA degree (or equivalent) in a humanities or related field, plus at least six years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a humanities or related field, plus at least four years of relevant experience
Proven track record of work in inclusion and community impact
Proven experience with Google Suite
Experience working with undergraduate students
Ability to travel independently to current and prospective internship sites
Ability to work regular business hours and some evenings and weekends
Preferred
Experience coordinating an internship or experiential learning program in an educational or non-profit setting
Experience course management systems like Canvas, and other university data management systems
Teaching, instructional, or coaching training experience
Experience in community outreach and relationship building
Excellent verbal and written communication for large groups and one-on-one interactions
Demonstrated success working effectively with diverse students or youth, colleagues, and/or communities
Awareness and knowledge of legal and policy issues impacting internships
Current knowledge of the employment market and trends
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to achieve broad goals
Demonstrated ability to work independently and set direction of work to meet collegiate goals while using sound judgment and critical thinking skills
