Responsibilities
Lead piping system design and specification across multiple unit operations
Perform and review hydraulic, flow, and pipe stress analysis
Specify and support procurement of pumps, tanks, vessels, rotating equipment, and inline components
Review and approve vendor and contractor calculations and deliverables
Ensure designs meet API, ANSI, OSHA, and applicable industry codes
Design with constructability and field execution in mind
Support MoCs, PHAs, RFIs, and change orders during construction and operations
Partner closely with maintenance and operations on procedures and inspection plans
Help qualify and manage equipment vendors and contractors
Contribute broadly across the mechanical engineering function as priorities shift
Qualification
Required
BS in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of experience in piping design, stress analysis, and process equipment specification
Deep familiarity with API standards (510, 570, 650, 653)
Experience in chemical processing, petrochemical, or heavy manufacturing environments
Proficiency with tools such as Plant 3D, AutoDesk, CAESAR II, and engineering documentation platforms
Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
A self-starter mindset — comfortable moving between strategy and execution
