Engineer, Enterprise Data Management

Delaware North is a family-owned company with over 100 years of history, seeking a Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering team at their Global Headquarters in Buffalo, New York. The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing project-based solutions, improving the data platform, and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize data processes.

Responsibilities

Design and implement project-based solutions
Implement data platform improvements and new features
Assist the support team with the resolution of data platform bug fixes
Interface with clients, vendors, and internal users of the data platform on understanding the data
Participate in group design and architecture sessions
Author documentation for standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles, etc
Develop integration tests to validate solutions
Analyze data and make recommendations to optimize current business operations

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar STEM field preferred
2+ years' of experience developing data pipeline (ETL) processes
Extensive experience in SQL, query writing, and schema design
Experience designing and developing solutions with a modern programming language such as Python and Spark
Experience with Spark & columnar data formats (Delta/Iceberg)
Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow
Experience with data analytics platforms such as Databricks
Experience with data integration methodologies such as RESTful Web Services, web hooks, and data streams
Experience with Data Persistence Methods such as NoSQL and RDBMS (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB)
Cloud computing experience, AWS preferred
Extensive experience with handling large data sets, high performance computing, building high performance solutions and data integration projects
Proficiency with Unix/Linux
Familiarity with data modeling and transformation techniques
Ability to effectively triage and track issues through to resolution
