Intern II Master's - Emergency Management

NEOGOV is part of the City of Frisco, which is looking for an Intern II in Emergency Management. This role involves assisting upper management with special projects, conducting research, preparing reports, and presenting findings to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Assists upper management within a municipal environment with special work projects from conception through to implementation
Prepares program manuals, interprets program rules, regulations, codes and/or ordinances in area of study
Conducts in-depth research studies and/or surveys specific to municipal government programs and services
Prepares statistical analysis and reports findings of research studies to supervisor or department head
Demonstrates variety of methods of leadership, direction and supervision to professional or administrative staff members
Presents information on projects and research to staff members, management groups and City Council
Travels to attend meetings, training and make presentations
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Must be enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college in area of assignment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of principles and practices in area of study assignment
Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software
Knowledge specific to area of assignment in the utilization of technical tools, practices or methods
Knowledge of administration and management practices and procedures specific to area of assignment
Knowledge of project development and management
Knowledge of City policies and procedures
Skill in effective oral and written communications
Skill in planning, development, evaluating and implementing departmental procedures and objectives
Skill in resolving complex customer complaints and concerns
May be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and/or physical exam
May be required to possess State of Texas Drivers License

Preferred

Do you have a degree in Emergency Management, Business, Government, or related field?
Are you currently enrolled in a Master's degree program for Emergency Management, Business, Government, or related field?
Does your program require an internship for degree completion?
Do you currently hold National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training IS100, IS200, IS700 and IS800?
