Thermal Protection System Materials and Process Engineer– New Glenn
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. The role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, focusing on the development and implementation of thermal protection systems materials and processes, while contributing to safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities
Responsible for engineering definitions related to Thermal Protection System (TPS) refurbishment and repair on major structural and mechanical components
Works directly with the design, thermal, quality, and manufacturing teams to evaluate and analyze risks associated with non-conformances
Technical authority for on-site TPS activities, including production standup, and refurbishment
Makes technical decisions and recommendations that have a significant impact on engineering activities
Perform root cause analysis for out-of-spec conditions
Maintain, monitor and interpret relevant documents such as engineering drawings, materials and process specifications, refurbishment and repair requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline
8+ years of experience in related field
Familiarity with TPS materials state-of-the-art, especially flexible insulation blankets
Hands on experience with refurbishment of reusable TPS
Experience with production activities, non-conformance, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performing engineering analysis
Take ownership of work and operate under minimal direction
Preferred
10+ years of experience in the areas of thermal protection system development, testing, and data analysis
Experience with industrialization of new manufacturing processes and TPS products
Experience with Creo (Pro/E), Windchill 10, and Ansys
