Responsibilities
Own end-to-end transmission line design from early planning through implementation
Perform conductor selection and structure recommendations, plus insulation studies, A/C interference analysis, and static wire/grounding evaluations
Develop detailed line designs—plans, profiles, cross-section details, and buildable estimates
Integrate LiDAR and aerial survey inputs and account for environmental constraints such as wetlands, vernal pools, and other sensitive areas in routing decisions
Lead the overall transmission line design scope for capital projects
Create and review transmission line plan-and-profile drawings in PLSCAD to meet AVANGRID TM and NESC requirements
Strategize routing with right-of-way needs, congestion, local permitting realities, and system reliability optimization in mind
Run probability modeling, cost estimation, and other required technical analyses to support decisions
Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to deliver compliant, successful projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Civil, Electrical, or closely related)
3–5+ years of power system civil engineering experience, preferably focused on transmission lines
Deep understanding of line design practices, routing strategies, and transmission standards
Proficiency with PLSCAD and related design tools
Demonstrated ability to evaluate environmental and structural constraints and incorporate them into plans
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
