Leave of Absence Administration Consultant - 100% Remote

The Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a Leave and Workers Compensation Consultant who will serve as the subject matter expert on leave of absence and workers' compensation policies. The role involves counseling employees, coordinating leave programs, and advising on workers' compensation claims and processes.

Responsibilities

Counsel employees regarding leaves of absence, including leave policies, coordinate paperwork, tracking and change updates. Educate employees regarding benefits and pay continuation and assist with the employee return to work process or separation, if applicable
Coordinate and administer all employee leave programs, including, but not limited to, FMLA, Non-FMLA Medical, personal, military, and Worker's Compensation, etc
Utilizing the Leave of Absence module within our time and attendance system, review and approve leave type, eligibility, duration, employee documentation submission deadlines and monitor the maximum duration of leave within policy guidelines and applicable federal, state, local and workers compensation laws
Advise employees and managers regarding the workers' compensation, including, but not limited to the claim process, decision-making process, reporting requirements, modified duty, lost time management, benefit payments, and return to work process
Communicate with the claims adjuster, sharing information to ensure appropriate handling of each claim
Serve as the liaison between all parties involved in the claim, such as the employee, management, payroll, human resources, and health plan claims administrator
Manage Internal Occupational Health (IOH) relationship, contract and service expectations
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources with demonstrated experience in either leave management or workers' compensation
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Federal and State leave regulations and best practices
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with workers' compensation, modified duty rules, regulations, and best practices
Thorough understanding of federal and state laws regarding access for individuals with disabilities and accommodations under FMLA and ADA
Ability to empathize and effectively communicate (written and orally) with a variety of personalities about sensitive and confidential information
Experience with Workday

Preferred

Experience in Human Resources with demonstrated experience in both leave management or workers' compensation
5 years' experience
