Architectural Quality Assurance Representative
HFS Company is a nationally recognized AEC project management and consulting firm specializing in federal and military medical projects. They are seeking an experienced Architectural Quality Assurance Construction Specialist to ensure that all construction activities meet project specifications and federal regulations, focusing on quality control and compliance during a complex healthcare facility project.

Responsibilities
Perform on-site surveillance and inspect contractor's quality control activities
Participate in 3-phase inspection process
Monitor adherence to approved design standards, codes, and regulations
Monitor and record testing required by contract documents
Maintain progress photos
Communicate with the government point of contact any quality-related concerns
Review and recommend approve/disapproval of AHAs, submittals, shop drawings, and samples
Review and evaluate all RFIs, change orders and change order requests and recommend actions
Aid in preparing punch lists
Review final 'as built' drawings
Collaborate with project team to address interdisciplinary challenges
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the project team and broader organization
Attend weekly progress meetings with architects, engineers, and prime contractors
Produce detailed report of daily construction activities, project status, meetings, personnel assignments, site visitors. Report will be submitted in RMS and will detail descriptions of the work inspected, descriptions of the problems or delays and resolution, construction activities completed and/or in progress
Participate in commissioning
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field a plus
10+ years' experience on large scale construction projects
5+ years' QA experience on healthcare/research/laboratory facility projects
OSHA 30 certification
Knowledge of general principles of architecture, engineering, design, and construction of medical facility building system components and their inter-relationships
Broad general knowledge of all construction trades
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and techniques of the construction quality assurance/inspection process
Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations including DOD construction criteria, total building commissioning, TJC, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, ADA, Life Safety and all building standards and medical facility codes
Skilled in reviewing and interpreting basic engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, RFIs, etc
Ability to interact in a professional manner with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think analytically, make thoughtful decisions and create solutions to problems
Strong organization, planning and time management habits
Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
Knowledgeable of Internet usage
Constant ability to communicate with staff and others over the telephone and in person
Constant ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports
Constant ability to read, review, comprehend and mark/edit documents
Frequent ability to climb, bend, kneel, reach, lift, etc. and utilize gross and fine motor skills in the inspection process
Occasional ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 20 pounds from varied heights
Preferred
Federal experience a plus
Knowledge of the USACE QA process a plus
Experienced in interpretation of government, industry, and accreditation standards and criteria including space planning, life safety, anti-terrorism, indoor air quality, patient privacy, sustainability and others related to medical facilities
