Fire Service Technician (Hoods & Extinguishers)
Thompson Safety is a growing team in the fire protection industry, seeking a Fire Service Technician to perform testing, inspecting, and repairing of fire suppression systems and extinguishers. The role involves conducting annual maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and collaborating with customers and contractors.

Responsibilities
Perform annual maintenance/inspections of suppression systems & fire extinguishers
Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of fire extinguishers based on hazard/occupancy classification
Exchange fire extinguishers that require service; replace obsolete/damaged units
Installation of fire extinguisher cabinets, brackets, and wall hangers
Flawless execution of inspection reports, 100% accuracy every time!
Perform semi-annual inspection of restaurant and industrial fire suppression systems
Document findings and note deficiencies on inspection reports
Communicate to the customer any non-compliance issues
Collaborate with customers, contractors, and other team members to ensure efficient and effective use of fire extinguishers and possibly fire suppression systems
Adhere to safety guidelines and practices, both for personal safety and the safety of others
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED required
Active FEL-A license for Texas or FEL-K license
Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools
Knowledge of basic electricity and the ability to read electrical schematic diagrams
Proven experience working as a portable fire extinguisher and/or fire suppression technician
Proficiency in reading and interpreting NFPA standards (10, 17, 17a, 96), and technical manuals (Ansul, Amerex, CaptiveAire, etc.)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and team members
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
Maintain a valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug and background check
Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear and have full use of hands
Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Ability to work from a ladder, and in some case, a man-lift
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and travel daily
Preferred
Certifications or training in fire extinguisher and fire suppression systems is strongly preferred
