Responsibilities

Maintain specified level of care while transporting patients with admission orders from the emergency department to the unit
Transport patients within LLUMC units
Assist with expediting admissions, transfers and discharges
Serve in the hospitality/discharge lounge or accept a full or partial patient assignment on a unit based on business needs
Function in a patient-centered care model of practice and perform the nursing process independently
Serve as an exemplary role model in patient care delivery methods
Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical practice, communication, and documentation
Facilitate the empowerment of the nursing profession and excel in implementing new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice
Apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in the pediatric population
Utilize interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism
Contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population
Perform other duties as needed

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required
Minimum two years of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting required
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment Course required
Demonstrates expert competencies in acute and step down levels of care for adult nursing
Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills
Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required
Exhibits exemplary professional behavior at all times
Able to speak, read and write legibly in English
Able to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program
Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
Able to perform technical patient care activities
Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies
Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
Able to lead, supervise, teach and collaborate
Able to accept direction
Able to think critically
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Able to perform basic math and statistical functions
