Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Department Supervisor/Manager, is responsible for assisting in the directing of activities of all assigned employees to ensure the efficient and productive performance of the department
Ensures and promotes a safe working environment that meets the daily production goals in Quality, Output, and On-Time delivery
Train new employees on tool room / machine building machines, LTV (Lock, Tag, and Verify), Human performance and 5s
Run Tool room type machines, knowledgeable in design & manufacturing of custom automated assembly machines, tappers, and presses, minimum of 10 years’ experience
Supports department supervisor/manager in meeting the product line goals & objectives
Assists in directing assigned areas in manufacturing, processing, or support areas to meet customer quality, output and on-time delivery
May prepare daily production reports and may attend daily production meeting
Assists department supervisor/manager in the daily production and quality goals and ensures that these goals are achieved for the assigned areas
May complete timekeeping requirements for assigned hourly employees and have supervisor/manager approve
Assists in scheduling employee shifts, may approves overtime, vacations and other personnel administrative requests with supervisor/manager approval
Ensures employees are taking all breaks and lunches within the required time period
Assists in planning of short- and long-term department requirements
Interfaces with other departments to ensure goals and deadlines are accomplished
Walks shop floor to ensure all employees are maintaining productivity standards
Employee relations: in conjunction with the department supervisor/manager, promoting teamwork, coaching and counseling employees
Ensures employees are in compliance with all company policies and procedures
Coaches' employees in their continuous improvement efforts
Maintains procedures for shop floor housekeeping and 5S implementation
Promotes ABS where applicable
Cultivates leadership on the production floor by encouraging problem solving
Works in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment
Assists in implementing department training plans
Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required
The Team Lead is instrumental in assisting the Supervisor with overseeing employees; however this position is not directly responsible for the performance of the employees in the area
Carries out goals and supervisory functions in accordance with the direction of the Supervisor and the organization’s policies and applicable laws
Performs all other assignments, projects and duties as assigned

Preferred

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; 10 (ten) years leadership experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Have tool room and or machine shop experience (know the process)
Proficient PC skills and Microsoft Office programs
Experience with Syteline/QAD
Understands all tool steels and carbide blanks
Familiar with cutters and supplies needed to manufacture tools
