Senior Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Maintain the general ledger for multiple real estate and construction legal entities
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly trial balances, and financial statements
Prepare job cost reports and annual workpapers, including tax support schedules
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable for multiple real estate entities and the construction company
Prepare and manage monthly construction draws by consolidating, verifying, and summarizing contractor invoices
Prepare and maintain credit applications for the construction company
Collect, review, and record lien waivers
Maintain W-9 and certificate of insurance files for vendors and subcontractors
Prepare and update reports related to cash, tenant leases, budgeting, and project funding
Assist with cash flow tracking across entities and projects
Prepare annual and multi-year budgets for the company and individual entities
Forecast short- and long-term cash needs across real estate and construction entities
Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support management and operational decision-making
Interact with brokers, insurance agents, capital partners, auditors, property management companies, subcontractors, vendors, and other professionals
Assist with audit requests and preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
Oversee and coordinate with third-party property management companies
Assist in the selection and implementation of construction software
Learn and become a key user of the company’s investor reporting portal
Work closely with the COO (former CPA) on accounting processes, financial reporting, and special projects

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Proven experience in general ledger and accrual accounting, including financial statement preparation
Hands-on experience with Sage, QuickBooks or similar accounting software; strong Microsoft Excel skills required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with leadership and external partners
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

Preferred

CPA or CMA designation preferred, or progress toward certification
Construction, real estate, or project-based accounting experience preferred
Experience with construction draws, job costing, or project accounting is a plus
