Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer
Leidos is seeking a talented aerospace modeling and simulation engineer within the Flight Systems Department. The role involves providing solutions to complex technical problems related to modeling, simulation, and analysis of aerospace systems, including missiles and space vehicles.

Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining simulations to evaluate performance and flight dynamics of an aerospace flight vehicle
Creating 6-DOF, 3-DOF, and/or hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulations by incorporating aerodynamic & propulsion models, Guidance/Navigation/Control (GNC) algorithms, and other features to accurately characterize the capabilities of foreign or domestic missiles systems and other flight vehicles
Providing accurate assessments to inform Department of Defense policy makers, acquisition program, warfighter consumers, or other organizations to support their needs
Developing, upgrading, or using scripts, GUIs, or other utilities to support analysis and programmatic efforts
Qualification
Required
Fundamental understanding of aerospace engineering concepts, particularly including flight dynamics, simulation, orbital mechanics, and/or guidance/navigation/controls
Solid foundation of programming experience in Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, Python, or other language
Strong technical communication skills
Ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments
Resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL office
Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience or a 2-3 years of experience with a graduate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field from an ABET accredited school
US citizen with a Secret clearance and have the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph
Preferred
Familiarity with DoD processes and methods
Strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformation
Experience with configuration management software, such as Git or Mercurial
Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation
Experience with Simulink code-generation
Experience with GNC applications of flight vehicles, guided munitions, and/or UAS systems
Experience with C++ programming
