They are seeking an Internal Audit & SOX Readiness Consultant to build the Internal Audit function from the ground up, with responsibilities including designing internal audit processes and ensuring SOX compliance.

Responsibilities
Design and establish a practical Internal Audit function, aligned with the COSO framework
Develop and document the company’s risk assessment, risk matrix, and control environment
Design, implement, document, and test internal controls over key business processes
Execute ad hoc projects related to SOX readiness and internal controls
Lead SOX 302 and 404(a) readiness, including documentation, testing, and remediation
Develop a roadmap to SOX 404(b) compliance
Partner with external auditors and consultants to ensure alignment and efficiency
Collaborate with the Corporate Controller, FP&A, Data Systems, Operations, and Executive Leadership
Identify control gaps, recommend remediation, and track mitigation actions
Drive operational efficiencies while maintaining a strong controls mindset
Build simple, repeatable, and durable processes, including documentation standards, templates, testing calendars, and reporting frameworks
Establish controls that scale with the company’s rapid growth and increasing complexity
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
7+ years of experience in audit, internal controls, compliance, or SOX
Strong working knowledge of COSO, SOX 302/404, and internal control frameworks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document controls and processes
Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working in ambiguity
Preferred
MBA or MS in Finance or related field
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Big 4 public accounting experience
Experience supporting IPO readiness or recently public companies
Ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations and action plans
