Responsibilities

Plasma deposition (and upkeep of plasma reactors) of fluoropolymers and reactive precursors on to intravascular stents and test systems
Analysis of the chemistry of the coatings and stability of the coating by ESCA and SIMS
Treatment of stents with carboxybetaine (synthesis, UV crosslinking and chemical immobilization)
Preliminary blood compatibility assessment of treated stents including I-125 protein studies
General lab upkeep and maintenance
Reporting to the research team and authoring/publication of research papers

Required

Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering with one year of experience in I-125 radioactive research technology and RF-plasma deposition for the analysis and manufacturing of vascular stent coatings
Knowledge and practical experience using I-125 radioisotope protein labeling technique for analysis of stent surface interaction
Knowledge and practical experience in blood compatibility assessments of surface coatings
Experience in quantitatively measuring protein adsorption to surfaces
Knowledge and practical experience using RF-plasma deposition for stent manufacture and analysis
Experience in the manufacturing and analysis of vascular stent surface modifications, in particular anti-thrombotic and anti-fouling coatings, and payload capacity

Preferred

Master's or doctoral degree in engineering, particularly bioengineering, chemical engineering or related fields
Experience in the manufacture and analysis of vascular stent surface modifications, in particular antithrombotic and anti-fouling coatings, and payload capacity
