Electrical Engineer/Quality Lead

Responsibilities
Lead and mentor the Quality Control (QC) team, including inspectors, AOI operators, and incoming/outgoing quality technicians
Schedule and oversee daily QC workload, priorities, and resource planning
Train QC staff on inspection techniques, measurement tools, IPC-A-610 requirements, ESD handling, and documentation protocols
Ensure effective use and maintenance of quality inspection machines (AOI, X-ray, microscopes, measurement tools)
Oversee quality plans, inspection criteria, sampling plans, and acceptance standards for PCB and PCBA production
Conduct PCB file/Gerber reviews, panelization reviews, and board house equivalency checks prior to production release
Monitor key process indicators and implement data-driven improvements to yield and reliability
Act as the first point of contact for all RMA returns, customer complaints, and field failures
Perform failure analysis, document findings, and communicate results to internal teams and customers
Drive closure of corrective action reports (CARs) in collaboration with Quality Engineering
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional communication with customers throughout the RMA/CAR process
Lead structured problem-solving efforts with a comprehensive understanding of electrical theory
Generate detailed corrective action and preventive action (CAPA) reports
Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and track repeat issues to prevent recurrence
Collaborate with Engineering and Production on process updates, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
Enforce and maintain ESD program compliance across production and inspection areas (audits, training, equipment checks)
Ensure alignment with industry standards such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and customer-specific requirements
Support internal and external audits, documentation control, and quality system updates
Manage operation, calibration, and performance of AOI, X-ray, microscopes, gauges, and measurement tools
Oversee ESD monitoring equipment and calibration
Recommend new inspection technologies and process automations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (EE), or related field
2-5 years of experience with PCBs and PCBAs
Leadership experience
US Citizen
Strong experience with assembly drawings and electrical schematics
Proficient knowledge of SMT processes, PCB fabrication methods, soldering, and component technologies
Strong analytical, root-cause, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions
Preferred
IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certified
Experience with MES/ERP/QMS software
Exposure to ISO audits, process mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies
Familiarity with PCB panels, Gerber files, fabrication notes, and board house file review
Familiarity with box builds and cable assemblies
