Clinical Bioinformatics Analyst I
The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution focused on genomic solutions for disease. The Clinical Bioinformatics Analyst I will analyze complex genomic data and assist in the development of algorithms and software for genomic analysis and diagnostics.

Responsibilities
Bioinformatics programming
Statistical analysis
Algorithm implementation
Running programs
Packaging results for client
Evaluating data for quality assurance
Clinical data analysis and reporting
Assisting in the development of requirements and testing for software, analytical tools, and technologies
Design, development, implementation, testing of novel algorithms and software for genomic analysis and diagnostics
Play a leading role in the development of such algorithms that can lead to publication
Integration with Exomiser development team
Presentation of algorithms and results in scientific conferences and publications
Qualification
Required
MS degree in Bioinformatics or relevant biological sciences degree
At least five years of professional bioinformatics work experience if no Master's degree is achieved
Background of Python and R
Deep experience in Linux bash shell
Familiar with HPC (prefer Slurm) and Cloud computing environment (prefer GCP)
Previous experience with workflow management tools (prefer Nextflow) and Docker/Singularity container
Familiar with script version control and documentation with Git (prefer GitHub or Azure DevOps)
BS degree in Bioinformatics or relevant biological sciences degree + five years of professional bioinformatics work experience or MS degree in Bioinformatics or relevant biological sciences degree
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Experience Required: 2 years
Preferred
PhD degree preferable in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field
Experience with Java
Experience in other languages such as Python, Rust a plus
Knowledge of genetics is a plus
Ability to lead projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision
Preferred Education: Doctorate degree
