City Utilities -GIS (Geographic Information System) Intern
City of Fort Wayne is seeking a GIS Intern to work alongside GIS Analysts and engineers. The role involves maintaining and analyzing spatial data, producing maps, and supporting AI and automation initiatives to improve the city's utility systems.

Responsibilities
Maintain and update GIS data, assets, and attributes
Analyze and link data from multiple sources for mapping and planning
Produce maps and visualizations using GIS software
Support AI pilots, automation initiatives, and advanced GIS projects
Assist with data management, research, and City training modules
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related field
Minimum of two years of college completed
Experience with Python or other scripting languages, AI, or data science
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical and spatial data
Effective communication skills for meetings and presentations
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation mindset
Preferred
Interest in environmental engineering (water and wastewater) preferred
Valid Indiana Driver's License, or
Valid driver's license with certified driving record if using a City vehicle
Familiarity with AI concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, and data ethics
