Akkodis is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer for a Contract job with a client in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and Python, and will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and implementing changes across mainframe applications.

Responsibilities

Design, code, test, and implement changes across mainframe applications

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, and deployment

Work extensively with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2 to deliver high‑quality application enhancements

Develop and maintain Python components for integrated workflows

Engage in technical, architectural, and design discussions with cross‑functional engineering teams

Collaborate effectively in a global virtual team with colleagues based in New York and India

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues and production defects

Ensure adherence to organizational coding standards and best practices

Provide documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams
