The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's naval nuclear reactors. They are seeking an early career Engineer of Radiological Work responsible for developing technical work documents and maintaining radiological areas, including support equipment and decontamination activities.

Responsibilities

Develop technical work documents that incorporate engineering controls (radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene) necessary for performing work on, testing of, or handling radioactive and/or nuclear material
Focus on facility and infrastructure maintenance in radiological areas including radiological support equipment (ventilation, machinery, piping and characterization), and decontamination and decommissioning activities

Required

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug free workplace and workforce
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707

Preferred

Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering
Experience in writing technical reports
Radiation protection background
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
