Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at a manufacturing site, overseeing EHS management systems and promoting a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and state environmental agency requirements
Manage hazardous waste activities in accordance with RCRA, including proper accumulation, labeling, storage, documentation, and disposal
Maintain and support the site’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001/45001, including documentation, audits, inspections, and corrective actions
Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, process safety evaluations, and other hazard identification activities to support safe operations
Develop, deliver, and document EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors
Lead incident investigations, perform root‑cause analyses, and ensure timely implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions
Conduct routine EHS inspections, audits, and assessments to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement
Promote a strong, proactive safety culture through communication, engagement, and leadership presence on the manufacturing floor
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline
3+ years of Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline
Working knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in the field, at a federal and state level (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance
Previous experience conducting effective and engaging training
Excellent computer and verbal/written communication skills
Preferred
Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, or CHMM
Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
Experience supporting construction or capital project EHS oversight
Prior experience in a federally regulated or high‑security environment
