Associate Director of Solid Waste

Lake County Board of County Commissioners is seeking an Associate Director of Solid Waste. The role involves conducting human resources research projects, developing employee selection methods, and designing performance evaluation procedures while overseeing the work of assistants and training less experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

Independently develops employee selection methods, including construction of ability, knowledge, skill, and interest tests; performs complex job analyses to identify critical job tasks and attributes associated with their performance; administers experimental tests; applies psychometric theory and procedures in conduct of item analyses and determination of test reliabilities; designs and executes difficult criterion validity studies including the development and administration of job performance criterion measures, conduct of appropriate statistical analyses, and interpretation of validity data; performs studies of adverse impact in accord with professional standards and requirements of Federal law; prepares technical reports, and expert testimony if employment tests are legally challenged
Independently designs employee performance evaluation procedures; meets with employees, supervisors, and managers to explain methods and to identify critical performance domains, relevant work behaviors and outcomes; prepares forms, and writes instructions and training materials; designs and executes studies of performance evaluation procedures, including the preparation and administration of survey questionnaires, statistical analyses of survey data, and of performance evaluation data
Meets with employees, supervisors, and managers to explain and interpret results of research projects, and human resources policies and legal requirements, and to obtain information necessary for conducting human resources research projects
Searches, interprets, and prepares written summaries of relevant professional literature on human resources research methods and results
Identifies, computes, and interprets a variety of statistics relevant to analysis of human resources research data, including standard descriptive and inferential statistics and psychometric indices, using mainframe and microcomputers; uses standard computer programs, and writes programs using SAS, SPSS, database management programs, and related routines; prepares tables, figures, and written summaries of statistical results following conventional practice
Independently designs and executes special projects in industrial-organizational psychology on such topics as employee turnover, employee attitudes and perceptions, personality assessment, and applicant and employee job requirements
Directs the work of clerical and other assistants; assists in training less experienced professional associates as assigned

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in psychology or human resource management; OR completion of all requirements except dissertation for a doctoral degree in these fields; OR a bachelor's degree and two years of experience conducting human resources or psychological research comparable to that of a Human Resources Research Associate 2
