Technical Documentation Writer

Leidos is a prime contractor to the National Science Foundation supporting the United States Antarctic Program. They are seeking a Systems Engineering Technical Documentation Writer to assist in updating technical manuals for a critical software upgrade, ensuring user-friendly documentation that meets ASC standards.

Responsibilities

Assisting in the development (writing, editing, proofreading and/or providing writing support) of technical manuals updates
Creating and modifying technical diagrams using tools such as Visio or Microsoft PowerPoint; reviewing technical changes; and providing editorial changes per ASC documentation standards
Creating new stylesheets, documentation, and graphics. Also can update existing documentation
Developing technical documentation and performing validation for review and approval by ASC Trainer and Maximo Manager
Establish and maintain a direct working relationship with ASC team responsible for system upgrade
Work with the customer and internal departments to gather information used in the development of various forms of technical documentation
Ability to translate technical and complex information and requirements into user-friendly technical documentation
Experience developing and testing written procedures in a lab environment
Provide weekly status updates used to develop productivity metrics. Assist in developing charts and presentations

Required

Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience
Demonstrated direct experience developing and implementing large-scale technical changes on compressed schedule deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work without appreciable direction, modulating schedule to meet and exceed schedule targets
Working knowledge of Camtasia and SnagIt (TechSmith tools)
Demonstrated ability to review and provide editorial comments for content developed by other team members
Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required
Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date
