Akkodis is seeking a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer for a Contract with a client in Plano, TX. This role focuses on supporting and maintaining complex mainframe environments across LPAR, MIPS, and datacenter operations.

Responsibilities

Provide day‑to‑day support for complex mainframe environments, including incident and service request management for z/OS systems
Manage mainframe migrations, LPAR/MIPS configurations, and capacity/performance monitoring to ensure system stability and efficiency
Perform mainframe backup and restore operations, including tape‑based recovery and validation of restore procedures
Install, configure, and support mainframe LPARs while administering remote MIPS/LPAR environments as needed
Collaborate with vendor partners to maintain SLAs, improve reporting accuracy, and streamline operational policies and procedures
Support datacenter migration activities by contributing to mainframe design, environment planning, and system readiness assessments

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline
8+ years of hands‑on experience supporting and administering mainframe environments, specifically IBM z/OS
Proven expertise in mainframe LPAR/MIPS management, backup/restore operations, and system performance/capacity management
Strong experience supporting mainframe migrations and datacenter transitions, including installation, configuration, and remote administration of z/OS systems
