Summer 2026 - Structural Engineering (Water/Wastewater) Intern

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Structural Engineering (Water/Wastewater) Intern to join our Water/Wastewater team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level students to work alongside experienced structural engineers and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

Assist with structural design and analysis tasks for water and wastewater facilities under the guidance of licensed engineers
Support the development of structural plans, layouts, and design concepts
Help prepare drawings, sketches, and calculations for incorporation into construction documents
Conduct research on design options, codes, and standards applicable to water and wastewater structures
Assist with basic calculations such as structure heights and weights, concrete quantities, and equipment fit-up
Support cost estimating efforts, including quantity take-offs and gathering vendor information
Review shop drawings and technical submittals with oversight from senior staff
Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
Assist with field observations and documentation of existing conditions or construction progress, as needed
Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to support project documentation and analysis

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
Strong interest in structural engineering within the water and wastewater industry
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Preferred

Familiarity with structural analysis or design software is a plus (e.g., finite element modeling tools, Autodesk platforms)
