Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture: Design, deploy, and manage core services within Cloud Hyperscalers, focusing on Compute, Networking, Storage, Database, Serverless, and Security
Multi-Cloud Strategy: Evaluate and recommend optimal cloud solutions across AWS, GCP, and Azure, ensuring platform consistency, disaster recovery planning, and seamless integration between environments
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive automation efforts using Terraform or CloudFormation for provisioning, management, and continuous deployment of infrastructure resources
Cost Management: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud spend across all platforms, identifying and implementing cost-saving strategies (FinOps)
Mentorship & Documentation: Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to engineering teams and maintain high-quality, up-to-date documentation of all cloud environments

Required

Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS or, GCP)
Knowledge of the public cloud well-architected framework
A naturally curious and proactive problem-solver who thrives on complex technical challenges, always looking for ways to innovate
Excellent communication skills with the ability to Connect effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization

Preferred

6+ years of progressive experience in IT, with at least 3+ years as a hands-on Cloud Roles
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrable experience designing and deploying production workloads in at least two of the three major clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Proven expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform
Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/GKE)
In-depth knowledge of networking principles, security best practices, and cloud identity management (IAM)

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
Paid Time Off:
Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
Annual leave increases with years of service.
There are also 12 paid holidays.
