Responsibilities
Own and drive the month-end close process
Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
Oversee the close execution performed by an AP Clerk and a Staff Accountant
Improve close accuracy, speed, and control environment
Build and stabilize accounting operations
Establish scalable accounting processes appropriate for a restart-stage, PE-backed company
Ensure readiness for increased transaction volume as production ramps up
Process improvement & PE reporting support
Partner with finance leadership to execute process improvement initiatives
Support reporting expectations typical of private equity ownership, including consistency, timeliness, and data quality
Capital-intensive accounting
Support accounting for a large mine. Experience with accounting for large capital expenditures such as mining, construction, or infrastructure-related costs is a plus
Ensure proper capitalization and tracking of project spend
Travel to the mine site approximately once per month
Typical schedule: fly in Monday morning, fly out Thursday evening
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience working in a private equity–owned or PE-backed company
Strong hands-on accounting experience, including: Journal entries, Account reconciliations, Month-end close ownership
Comfortable operating in a lean, hands-on environment and building processes from the ground up
Preferred
Experience in a restart, turnaround, or distressed environment strongly preferred
Background in capital-intensive industries (mining, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, etc.)
Resource or mining experience helpful but not required
