Responsibilities

To conduct brief functional assessment intakes and time-limited, evidence-based (i.e. CBT, MBCT, ACT, DBT-based) behavioral medicine interventions to patients spanning the lifespan in primary and specialty care clinics throughout UAB’s health system
Consulting and liaising with physicians and advanced care providers (APPs) to offer real-time patient clinical impressions and recommendations
Providing same-day and brief behavioral interventions
Administering and applying measurement-based care
Participating actively in scaling, implementing, and evaluating iBeMS throughout the health system with ambassadorship, advocacy, clinical research, and quality improvement (QI) efforts
Facilitating the development and maintenance of the iBeMS patient reported outcomes (PRO) database
Running descriptive and inferential iBeMS analyses using these data
Developing associated IRB and grant applications
Conceptualizing, writing, and publishing peer-reviewed scholarship
Developing and refining existing clinic standard operational procedures (SOPs), manuals, and miscellaneous iBeMS clinic protocols and materials

Required

Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD) or higher in clinical psychology or a related field
Must be self-directed / self-motivated
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
Must accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
Must be able to work independently
Must recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
Must convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
Must relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
Must communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
Must exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment
Must perform effectively when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations
Must demonstrate the quality work ethic of doing the right thing the right way
Must maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy the customer's perceived needs

Preferred

Behavioral medicine experience preferred
Demonstrated history of work in integrated medical settings also preferred
