QA Inspector - 1st Shift WKND

NWI Aerostructures is seeking a QA Inspector to perform inspections of aerospace parts to ensure quality standards are met. The role involves working on the first article, in-process, and finished part inspection, as well as maintaining quality documentation and following safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Reads customer blueprints and checks parts for conformance with customer specifications using standard inspection procedures
Uses gauges and certified tools as required
Follows instructions from manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructions
Learns one or more certified inspection operations and passes certification exam (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,)
Understands and follows hazardous waste disposal requirements
Demonstrates good communication and self-management skills
Knows how to input FAI data into FAI forms
Performs end of line activities including Certificate of Conformances
Scans work orders from various departments and areas
Knows how to operate a part mark machine
Performs all requirements of Level I
Fully competent in the understanding and interpretation of manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructions
Reviews and approves first article paperwork prepared by Level I Inspectors
Reviews manufacturing documents including customer purchase orders, materials and processing documentation, engineering specifications and is able to extract and apply information to the current job or work order without assistance
Advanced blueprint reading capabilities
Trains Level I Inspector in Level II tasks
Performs special assignments (example: tooling acceptance or 1st part conformity)
Maintains certification in one or more certified inspection operations (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,)
Performs multifunctional operations and is cross-trained in multiple inspection functions
Performs as a lead person if required
Demonstrates high efficiency in daily activities
Understands and can navigate in Net-Inspect to upload FAI information
Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Wear personal protective equipment as required
Follow corporate policies and procedures as well as department goals and objectives
Actively participate in cross-training, cost savings and team activities to improve processes
Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy when interacting with co-workers, team members and supervisors
Promote a safe, clean and organized work environment
Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area
Wear required safety equipment (safety glasses, ear protection, safety toe shoes, etc.)
Report all work related injuries to supervisor as soon as possible
Notify senior management when safe conditions do not comply

Required

High School graduate or equivalent
Mechanical aptitude and good work ethic
Minimum one-year work experience in aerospace machining environment, preferably as a machinist or inspector
Demonstrated mathematical ability
Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical documents
Temper inspector must receive Rockwell and conductivity training and pass certification exam
Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending and stretching
Lifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistance
Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust
Constant repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms

Preferred

Minimum of three years of work experience as a Quality Inspector in a machining or assembly aerospace manufacturing facility
Has received specialized training in blueprint, math, communication or other applicable training
Demonstrates good computer skills (Excel and Word)
Ability to work in NWI manufacturing software
