Responsibilities
To conduct inpatient and outpatient clinical intakes and apply an evidence-based standardized treatment intervention to patients diagnosed with somatic and functional disorders across the lifespan throughout UAB’s Health System
Qualification
Required
Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD) or higher in clinical psychology or a related field
Must be self-directed / self-motivated
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
Must be able to accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
Must be able to work independently
Must be able to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
Must be able to convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
Must be able to relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
Must be able to communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
Must be able to exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment
Must be able to perform effectively when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations
Must be able to demonstrate the quality work ethic of doing the right thing the right way
Must be able to maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy the customer's perceived needs
Preferred
Behavioral medicine experience
Demonstrated history of work in integrated medical settings
