Responsibilities
Architect and design scalable, secure, and high-performance database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server
Lead end-to-end database development including schema design, stored procedures, triggers, indexing, and performance optimization
Design and implement conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business requirements
Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning
Define and enforce database best practices, development standards, and governance guidelines
Collaborate with application development, DevOps, and BI teams to ensure seamless database integration
Design and manage high availability, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and maintenance strategies
Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and guidance to database developers
Participate in cloud readiness assessments and database migration initiatives to AWS
Configure and manage monitoring, alerts, metrics, logs, and traces in AWS environments
Qualification
Required
12–18 years of overall experience in database design and development, with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server on AWS
AWS Solution Architect certification is mandatory
Strong experience with SQL Server development including T-SQL, stored procedures, views, triggers, UDFs, and indexing
Expertise in database architecture, partitioning strategies, and capacity planning
Advanced experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan analysis
Strong knowledge of data modeling (OLTP and OLAP), normalization, schema design, and ERD tools
Experience with AWS monitoring and observability, including: Configuring alerts and monitoring in AWS, Analyzing metrics, logs, and traces, Implementing and managing the OpenTelemetry collector framework, Building dashboards as per customer requirements
Hands-on experience with Terraform and scripting for infrastructure automation
Experience integrating observability platforms such as Sumo Logic and New Relic
Hands-on exposure to AWS RDS for SQL Server, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting
Experience with SSIS, SSRS, or similar data integration and reporting tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred
Experience with cloud-native databases such as SQL Server on AWS RDS or Amazon Aurora
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating SQL code into DevOps workflows
Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Azure Cosmos DB
Prior experience with Azure SQL environments is a plus
