Responsibilities
Design logical and physical data models, including primary key strategies, index optimization, and hotspot avoidance
Define transaction boundaries and consistency models under Spanner constraints, ensuring reliability and scalability
Validate schema compatibility and CRUD contracts in collaboration with QA and platform teams
Perform performance and scalability assessments, diagnosing issues like hot keys, transaction conflicts, and index amplification
Provide leadership and mentorship, acting as the final authority on Spanner data design decisions and guiding domain architects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
10+ years in large-scale data architecture and distributed systems design
Deep expertise in Google Spanner internals, including TrueTime, distributed transactions, and synchronous replication
Proven experience designing petabyte-scale, multi-region OLTP systems and prior Oracle distributed DB migration experience
