Enterprise Applications and Technology Services (EATS) Intern
The N.C. Department of Transportation is seeking interns for their Enterprise Applications and Technology Services (EATS) team. This internship offers hands-on experience in IT project management, application development, and process improvement while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Information Technology & Services
Responsibilities
Support IT project management and project facilitation activities, including task coordination, documentation, and status tracking
Assist with application development initiatives, system enhancements, and functional testing
Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts, including documentation and workflow optimization
Collaborate with teams across NCDOT, NCDIT–Transportation, and NCDMV to gather requirements and support solution development
Assist with data analysis and reporting, including writing and reviewing SQL scripts as needed
Support system documentation, process mapping, and operational deliverables
Participate in meetings with technical and business stakeholders to support project planning and execution
Perform general program and administrative support related to IT initiatives
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelors, masters, or professional level program at an accredited or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by May 2026
24 credit hours completed
Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale)
Has legal right to work in the U.S. and do not need sponsorship
Strong leadership potential
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Interest or experience in IT project management, information systems, or application development
Understanding of process improvement, automation, or systems integration
Basic knowledge of SQL scripting, data analysis, or reporting tools
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Effective written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to work independently in a remote-friendly setting while collaborating with distributed teams
