Responsibilities
Oversee and manage external service providers to ensure timely and accurate sales/use and indirect tax compliance
Lead sales tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities, ensuring proper documentation and communication
Collaborate with external partners on the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income and franchise taxes
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations while identifying opportunities for tax savings and operational efficiency
Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to evaluate the impact of new tax legislation on the organization
Develop and implement tax strategies that align with business objectives, enhancing overall financial performance
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on tax policies and procedures, fostering a culture of compliance and awareness
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master's in Taxation preferred
5-7 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably within the retail or e-commerce sector
Proven experience managing sales tax audits and resolving issues with state agencies
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Experience with tax research tools, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite), and sales tax software; familiarity with Avalara is a plus
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred
Experience with reporting and data tools such as Looker, Power Query, and SQL
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
