Senior Accountant (DOH/SLD #10886)
New Mexico Department of Health is seeking a Senior Accountant responsible for processing all accounts receivable. The role involves creating invoices, managing payments, performing reconciliations, and assisting in financial data analysis.

Responsibilities
Processing all accounts receivable (AR)
Creating fee for service invoices, distribution of invoice to customers, processing payments received as well as collecting on past due invoices
Completing monthly AR reconciliation and preparing journal entries
Assisting the accounting supervisor with reviewing, researching, analyzing, and correcting financial data and reports of the general ledger, trial balance, and the journal entries
Preparing invoices with accurate department and revenue codes to bill customers for the services provided by the Scientific Laboratory
Running revenue reports each month for all customers with past due invoices over 30 days
Sending out past due notices and making collection attempts via email and phone
Maintaining accurate and detailed records of collection attempts
Posting payments in the Scientific Laboratories accounts receivable system for all daily deposits (checks, electronic fund transfer, operations transfer, create revenue information sheets with accurate revenue funding, and deposit checks timely
Monthly reconciliation of revenues and monthly billing
Processing journal entries in SHARE to correct discrepancies identified when reconciling the purchase order report, general ledger, revenue and expenditures
Processing journal entries in accordance with Department of Health policies and procedures, and the Department of Finance Administration Model Accounting Practices (MAPS)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration
Two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting
Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate
Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is required
Detail orientated with the experience and ability to independently conduct audits, and reconciliations
Knowledge of SHARE Financials
Experience with multiple funding/revenue sources
Solid understanding of the General Accepted Accounting Principles (MAPS)
Strong ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
