WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM OPERATOR IN TRAINING (OIT) / FIELD TECHNICIAN

Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is a full-service environmental remediation, water resource, and civil engineering firm based in Reno, NV. They are seeking a motivated Water Treatment System Operator in Training (OIT)/Field Technician to support the operation of two water treatment systems at Leviathan Mine, with training and mentorship provided.

Responsibilities

Completing required safety and operator training
Assisting with daily operational documentation and logs
Supporting system operations, monitoring, and optimization (including remote monitoring)
Performing routine system inspections and maintenance tasks
Measuring field parameters and collecting water samples
Assisting with troubleshooting and minor repairs under guidance
Supporting chemical, fuel, and material deliveries
Maintaining safety, field, and compliance records
Supporting preparation of operational status updates and reports
Promoting a strong safety culture and environmental stewardship

Required

High School Diploma
Zero to one year of environmental-related, water treatment, industrial operations, aquarium and/or aquaculture work experience
Ability to work outdoors, traverse moderate terrain and lift up to 50 pounds
Willingness to learn mechanical, technical, and monitoring systems
Ability to follow procedures, document work accurately, and prioritize safety
Self-starter, quick learner and effective communication skills
Ability to travel with valid driver's license and ability to be insured by our commercial insurance
Ability to work individually and as part of a team

Preferred

Interest in water treatment, environmental science, or environmental remediation
Comfort working outdoors and at remote field sites
Basic mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (school, work, military, or personal projects all count)
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Prior experience in water or wastewater treatment, environmental fieldwork, or industrial operations
Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Operator certification
HAZWOPER certification
Familiarity with pumps, piping, valves, or sampling equipment
Associate's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Science
